Queen neglecting her eggs
A few weeks back I found an ant queen I believed to be fertile due to her not having wings, I put her in a test tube and a week into the future she had her first eggs, they were all in one place around her, but yesterday I checked on her and saw that the eggs were all around the test tube separated. I heard this was a sign she wasn't fertile, is this true?

Yes, she may be infertile.

Hey,
I think it could also be stress. How often do you you check on her?
One per week is more than enough. Is she in a calm place? Not too much vibration?
I would just wait some more and see how it goes and if she still acts like this or the eggs don't develop, then she is indeed infertile.

Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Re: Queen neglecting her eggs
I check up on my ants every friday for a minute only, I am really hoping that they are not stressed.

She looks really beautiful.
I also see that the eggs were clustered up so it doesn't look too much scattered around. I'm sure she will be fine. Just be patient and wait for the first workers to hatch. Maybe it's just temporary or hydro- & thermo-regulation.

Re: Queen neglecting her eggs
I bring sad news, today when I checked up on the queen, I saw that all the eggs have disappeared but the queen is still alive, any ideas?
Re: Queen neglecting her eggs
She probably ate them all.

Sad, I'm guessing this confirmed that she is infertile? I doubt it was stress since I checkup on her once a week and the other queens are doing well.

Re: Queen neglecting her eggs
Not sure if that is a sign of being infertile but it could be that she is just not feeling well.
