will pesticide effect wear off??
so I have been planning to feed my c. compressus some termite that I catch in my house. but the important thing I remembered is that we sprayed that place with pesticides few months ago. I think it was 2 months back and I still find alive and active termite workers. is it safe to give my ants those termites. would the pesticide effect have wore off by now? the pesticide kills termite instantly so the live healthy workers probably means they are safe to be eaten by ants? pls help

I guess it depends on the pesticides used. Maybe the guys ripped you off since the termites are still alive. Maybe they are coming from the outside?
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

I don't think the termites are coming from somewhere else. maybe the pesticide was weak and probably didn't kill the queen. there is door where the infestation was really bad but even after 3 bottles of that pesticide they were still there, resulting in the frame of door literally breaking :/

I think they ripped you off then on the pesticides. I would not try to use pesticides. Maybe try finding their queen and getting ride of the termites that way.

Re: will pesticide effect wear off??
well the door problem is fixed. There is a drawer in the kitchen the termite are. Everytime I open and close it quickly some termite workers would fall off. I do see a little mound like structure on the base of drawer. maybe I'll try to break it, catch king and queen termite and keep them. I don't want to kill the colony as I can feed the termite to my ants. if I do manage to catch them how do I go about keeping them? I'm thinking just filling a big jar or container with some soil and wood would that work?

If you want to keep termites you can find some tutorials on YouTube.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
