I just attempted to create a baby powder/rubbing alcohol barrier and I'm not sure if I did it right. Once dried, several pieces have broken off and fallen into the outworld. Is that normal? I feel like it shouldn't.
1. It make a bit of an unsightly mess that's a pain to clean up
2. If the point of it is to keep ants away from an area, doesn't that make the outworld more difficult for the ants to navigate with pieces scattered all around?
3. If it's falling, doesn't that make the barrier where I want it to be less effective?
Let me know if you think I did something wrong, have easy solutions to the above, or agree that these are just things that you have to live with if you go this method.

Re: Baby powder barrier questions
You probably put to mutch of it on the walls.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

Re: Baby powder barrier questions
Hey, in case you put too much, then it's normal. It can only be so thick. But if it's a whole chunk that was supposed to stick to the surface that has broken off then you may have not used enough alcohol to make a smooth creamy paste.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
