Hi,
I have a Polyrhachis Vermiculosa queen and she has a few eggs and a pupa. Anyway I have been watching she has a bunch of eggs all together plus a pupa. Anyway she seems to want to move them around then put them back for a while then carry them off.
Anyway I guess I am surprised. I would of thought the queen would of like to conserve energy and leave them in one spot most of the time.
Is this normal behaviour or what is the reason behind this?
Thanks,
Ward

It's probably because she is being stressed out too much or she doesn't like the light and carry them to a darker area.

Re: Queen ant moving eggs
Are you keeping your queen nicely toughed in a dark spot where she is not disturbed? How often do you check on her? I would assume as Syuteo said, that the light might have disturbed her slumber. Also she might just try to hydro and thermo regulate.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
