Do Weaver Ants need to raised in trees?

Do Weaver Ants need to raised in trees?
I captured a Weaver ant queen from my condo, and have placed it in a test tube setup.
It has laid eggs, but none have hatched yet.
My question is:
Do I need to move the ants into a tree later on?

They will be good in the test tube for now but you will have to make a vivarium containing some trees. This video will help you: https://youtu.be/iJZXL1FmW9g.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

It doesn't have to be a massive tree. A small one should do but I think there are certain species that prefer one tree over another. Of course the bigger the tree the more they prefer it. Sometimes weaver ants will start to build a silknest which may or may not be attached to one of your doors so make sure to spot those early on.
I saw a nice colony at Antstore in Berlin where they had used the corners to build more nest outside of the plant inside. ^^

Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Is there a specific placement for weaver ant brood or the queen in a horizontal weaver ant nest
Unlikely

It is nice that you ask but you are basically necroing a threat. Maybe open a new one. Also I think the queen would just chill around somewhere in the nest.

You don't actually need a tree to house them, I heard some Indonesian ant keepers keep them in a special nest with a network of plastic cups, wires and shelves kept inside a massive shed.AntsLuxembourg wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 1:46 amIt doesn't have to be a massive tree.
