How to keep harvester ants.

I have decided that we are in need of a topic on how to keep harvester ants. Mainly because I have seen many people in need of help with keeping harvester ants and also because I am looking to get a harvester ant colony someday. To be fair harvester ants are a pretty hard genus of ant to keep. If anybody has any info/experience on keeping harvester ants please post away.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

*cough cough* https://forum.AntsCanada.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=18552 *cough* ;)

I'd say that is somewhat what I did even without saying "harvester ants" in the topic title. I may even rewrite the whole thing as a new forum thread to make it clean and better docu mented.

P.S.: Someone fix this filter. Just because there is the work cu m in docu mented doesn't mean the whole word needs to be censored. xD
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

That thread was very helpful but the info was hard to find and it was a bit all over the place (and it takes people almost an hour to read). what we should do is post pure useful information on this thread. Also are pogonomyrmex the same as messor barbarus?

Maybe not the same as but similar. I mean they eat / store seeds which should be the closest both species come to being the same. I also know the Information is a bit all over the place and I did ask the mods if I could have the rights to reedit my posts after a longer time. At some point I will as I said update this. I also tried to update the AntWiki with informations on how to keep them or what their diet can be. But I didn't get the chance for this since it's not like WikiPedia.

Anyway I can try to redo the those thing and this time add a better titel and recreate new threads to update previous ones that got too entangled. For this I would need to find the time & motivation to do it tho.
