Is my queen dead??

Irecently found a wild colony and captured the queen and many of her workers including ailates, have shifted them into a container and they have made their nest and happily feeding ect.

Im now thinking that the queen may be dead as isaw them shifting out what looked to be a dead queen (possible ailate) except there were so many ants all over it unlike when they shift other dead.

Is this a sign it is the queen ant that may have died?

Have a closer look. Do they pull the ant around? Does it move on it's own? Is that ant in a "death curl" position?
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

If she is missing her lower abdomen she is most likely dead. Catching a wild colony can easily kill/harm the queen.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

Hmm may be the case then was hoping it was just one of the female ailates as ihad seen the queen earlier and she was intact and fine. Thankyou

If it did not have wings it was most likely the queen.
