Camponotus Irritan attacking each other

I ve noticed a strange behavior with my camponotus Irritan. They attack each other, some does. I ve seen 2 ants pulling legs of another one until it breaks.

I believe this happens when I give them termites to eat but I am not sure. My hypothesis is somehow those who ate the termites might carry their feromones hence the other could be confused and attack them.

Does this make sense? Any one has similar experience or another explanation?
