Hi - we have just had 150 ants delivered in a test tube. we are waiting for the formicarium to be delivered and have some questions.

We are wondering whether we need to open the test tube and feed the ants or should we wait for the formicarium?

The majors are pulling at the cotton so what is best way to open the tube without them escaping?

If we do need to feed them - what should we feed them?

You can probably wait until the formicarium arrives, as they probably have plenty of food in their social stomachs. When you do feed them, you need to feed them a sugar source (in the form of honey) and a protein source (in the for of feeder insects).
