Diacamma rugosum - gamergate and the future of the colony questions

Hello everyone!

Today I am writing to you with a question considering Diacamma rugosum...

I started with a colony consisting of 1 gamergate and 8 workers. Now I'm at 21 workers and many more coming soon.

This week I'm planning to put them in their own vivarium. My questions are as follow:
  • What will happen once the present gamergate dies?
  • How long does a single Diacamma rugosum gamergate live on average?
I hope someone who has been keeping this species for longer will be able to help me out 😊

Cheers,
Kuba 🐜

First up, when the present gamergate dies, it is like a queen in a colony that has died, but if your colony still has some pupae, the worker that eclosed will be fertile and can mated and lay eggs, try to find an unrelated male ant to mate with the newly eclosed ant
