It mostly just feels cruel to keep them all locked in such a tiny space. Plus I want to get them installed as quickly as possible so I can start working on security measures.
Well once I got my first workers I immediately connected their tube to an AC test tube portal. They seem to be fine.
Well Solenius... forgive if I've misspelled... are rather small. I don't want them getting overwhelmed with all the free space by not having enough sisters to explore it all. Plus, I want some actual workers and not just nanitics so they can do harder work in bringing home food.

How big are the nanitics? And how many? What set up do you have for them? (sorry if thats too many questions)

Well I don't have exact measurements but they're a little over a mm. There are 4 the last time I checked. And they're going into a small chinese formicarium set up which is roughly an 11cm cube with various compartments and a built in outworld.

Ant update: We are up to 5 workers! One is a regular minor caste and aside from being generally.. chunkier and thicker of head, limb, and thorax, is the same as the nanitics. Karen, apparently, loves water as she spends all of her time perched on the soaked cotton ball which seals off the water chamber. She's also doing a fine job of draining said chamber. I will likely move them into the formicarium as soon as she exhausts this reservoir.

Moving day has arrived! The ant tube is now connected to the ant cube... Things were a bit rocky and I may have lost some poor nanitics. I don't know until everyone settles down. Now we wait for Karen and her babies to move out and into the cube.

Karen... is being a Karen. Instead of moving out into the ant cube, she has her children gathering up dirt from the outworld and making little pyramids in her tube.

lol gotta love ants, swapped out my manica rubida's out world for a larger container decided to add some coco fiber and some moss and they loved it but now we have coco fiber everywhere in every chamber they also decided to bury the moss as well
1x Lasius Niger - early forging stage - 60-100 workers
1x Messor Barbarus - founding stage - <20 workers
1x Camponotus Turkestanus - claustral stage - 1 nanitic + brood
1x Odontoponera Transversa - semi-claustral stage - no eggs

Karen has finally moved out of her tube!... then immediately buried herself in the dirt of her outworld. While there's a perfectly good brood chamber less than an inch away... A cockroach nymph has taken that over now.
