Thanks. But I also have a big problem with the colony, their founding test tube (the one that I use to raise the queen in) is very dirty and they still don't want to move out of it, currently it only has one larva, one pupa and lots of workers. The good thing is the queen is not in there and there are springtails in the test tube. How can I let them move out of it?

Is the test tube dried out? is it in broad daylight?

Hi
I'm planing an upgrade of my outworld for my componotus ligniperdus and would love some tips and advises.
plan is to build cube 20x20x20cm with ventilation in top cover and in build lake(water reservoir). I wanna build desert diorama from WW2 with some older models of tanks (1:72) and probably in future connect it to dioramas from another seasons.
SO:
what material would you suggest on creating terrain grout, plaster or something else?
water reservoir from petri dish? open to other suggestions
what should i be careful about? (my 1st ourworld other than just plain box)
any tips would be welcomed :)
Thanks

The test tube is still wet, but it is in broad daylight.

Hi Camponotus Crew :D

I caught a Camponotus queen(don't know the species) days after it's nuptial flight, as i dont have test tubes here i put her in a kinda small recipient with a humid cotton ball and a hole in the top but she is not laying eggs, why?

Maybe it's because i found her very after the nuptial flight?

Great question. Campos do tend to lay eggs way after they are caught. At least thats what I can deduce from other comments. I guess just give her some time. Maybe put her in a dark place for about a month (ik its gonna be hard) and then check on her progress.

I like the idea, but 20x20x20 is too small in my opinion. Especially once your colony gains traction, they will outgrow it rather quickly I think. In general you want to avoid stagnant water as it can be a breeding place for all sorts of bacteria, algae etc.
In other words I'd recommend a bigger tank, and running water (a river perhaps?).

Hello, I’m planning on getting Camponotus Sansabeanus ants to put in an AntsCanada ant tower large that I just got. Does anyone know if this type of formicarium is a good suit for this species of ants? If you believe that it is what digging medium do you recommend I put in it. I’m new to ant keeping so answers to these questions will help me a lot.
Thank you.
