My wevaer ants keep on eating
As soon as I put food, they kill and eat it. Is it normal?

Do you know what species it is? It might just be an aggressive species.
Trying to find a queen ant
Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
So far my camponotus have been conservative. Only sending 1 or 2 workers out, barely taking in food and just waiting. I think they are cold and preparing for hibernation and I wish my sister did not take my heating pad for her fish.

My camponatus Pennsylvanias has mold on her is it to late for her
Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Is she dead??, or is there just mold on her?
If she has mold on her I would get her out of the test tube she is in and wash her somehow. Then move her brood to another tube carefuly

I know it might be simple but how would you move brood. I tried to move it for one of my queens and then after that, she ate them all and died.

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
When I once moved brood, I used a Q-Tip and gently touched the brood and they stuck to it, and then, moving over a solid surface, very gently deposit the brood in the test tube.ArizonanAnts wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 4:42 pmI know it might be simple but how would you move brood. It is definitely risky but if the queen is growing mold, then she is probably close to death and needs to be relocated

I haven't posted for a very long time now, but I just wanted all of you to know that my Camponotus parius colony is 1 year old now.
