I'd like to ask you guys how do you tell a colony that still has a queen, i got to my room that i keep my ants and i found my Camponotus irritans colony is decreasing in worker population :( i don't want my colony to all die out :(
I'm not really sure what the question is there syuteo.

If your ants are dying (I assume not of old age) you need to check the environmental markers and your own influence on where / how you keep them.

Are they too hot / too cold?
Is there too much / not enough humidity
Is there too much light (causes stress)
Are you checking on them too often? (Stress)
Is there an adequate food supply?
Do they have access to clean water?
Could there be a contaminant in the arena or nest itself (cleaning agent/ pesticides)

I am afraid there are no easy answers on this one

The temperature in my room always stays at room temperature and i am putting them in a shaded area, though i did check them every day to make sure they have new eggs layed so i guess they are stressed out. Another problem is probably due to pesticides cause sometimes people living nearby my house has dengue fever so the pest control came here to spray pesticides here but not every day.

Ok well just let them be for a week or so, without checking in on them. Light on the outworld is fine, but not on the nest.
Give them some time to relax

Okay, but i guess i have another problem than this... I saw some round white mites crawling on the out world walls and some of them are eating leftover mealworm carcasses too, i don't know what species they are and are they blood sucking mites that can kill my colony?

Most mites are beneficial garbage disposing creatures. If they are eating exoskeletons, the chances of them being bloodsuckers are minute. More likely they are turning insect waste into plant nutrients. So at the moment I wouldn't worry about them.

Right now the mites seems to be gone now, I don't usually see them but I guess they're harmless to my ants. Thanks for the help. :D

Hello guys!

Sorry that I haven't been on in a while. I wanted to ask if ants eat dry oatmeal for a carb source.

Thank you,
