Hii there,
I'm new to Ant Keeping, and I caught 2 queens with my girlfriend of the "Lasius Niger" species. (atleast, I think... they where everywhere on the pavement here in The Netherlands)
But when I looked at my thermometer, it says it's 31degrees celsius.
is this okay or should I really move them to somewhere cooler? (25 degrees celsius is about average here, but I keep them in my server rack so that I don't get tempted to look at them all the time)
By the way, I think they layed eggs so the temperature must be right, right?.. atleast, I see little white dots on the "floor" of the testtube (are those eggs?)
Thanks for the help!

Re: Lasius Niger temperature?
25 is right on the edge of the upper limit anywhere between 20 - 24 is better. 31 wayto high if they where in the wild they would go to the bottom of there nest. just make sure they are hydrayed enough within the tube.
Re: Lasius Niger temperature?
Thanks, I moved the ants to my sleeping room.
They are still alive, and happily crawling around.
