I am hearing that baby powder and alcohol will not keep solonopsis invicta in? Is there another option besides fluon

I'm not aware of one. If you're on this site, perhaps you've seen Mikey's famed Solenopsis geminata colony, The Fire Nation, on youtube. He complains often that they are notorious escape artists, pressing themselves into corners, eroding baby powder barriers with sheer numbers, and have even traversed a fluon barrier by scraping it with their mandibles and jamming garbage into the small holds they made.
Your best bet is to carefully build a quality fluon barrier, and monitor it closely every day. For further tips on keeping fire ants, here's a neat video from 2016.
