Crematogaster question

I was wondering if the care for the whole general Crematogaster species is different for the care for individual Crematogaster genuses.

Not that I’ve heard of.

Thank you I will keep that in mind. I was wondering, do you know of any species where care for an individual genus varies?

In the northern US you would either be dealing with Crematogaster cerasi or C. lineolata. Both are so similar that one needs a microscope to ID them to the species level. Their care is very simple other than the fact that they are master level escape artists. I have two first year colonies that are thriving in a tubs and tubes set up kept at 81-85 degrees. I feed them a variety of insects and Sunburst ant nectar in byFormica feeders. One colony is already over 80 ants with no signs of slowing.

BTW, I'm not really following your question. Crematogaster is a genus with a worldwide distribution. Different species within that overall genus will obviously have different care needs, but North American Crematogaster are all pretty similar in terms of requirements. One main difference is that some of the southern species nest in soil, whereas northern species are more arboreal.

In Idaho I think we have Crematogaster cerasi, Crematogaster coarctata, and Crematogaster vermiculata. Is there care is much different from each other?

Is the Crematogaster laevisucula an easy first ant species to own?
