Hello I have recently caught (What I believe is) a queen ant and I need quite a bit of help
(Pictures attached) I’ve found a queen while outside and put her in a test tube setup I believe it’s very early for queen ants is it not? Usually it starts around May-July but I seem to have caught one I don’t know if she’s ready yet she still has wings and didn’t use them when she was climbing a hole (not an ant hill my brother had dug it and she was the only ant) I’d like to know the species (if possible), And if she’s ready to lay eggs.
Thanks for your help!

I do not see any pictures attached. Do you have any measurements of the "queen" you have caught?
Re: General Help with my recently caught ant queen
Sorry I’m very new to this,
She is roughly half an inch by 1/8 an inch she has a black body but she has brown wings which she hasn't she seems very determined to get out either that or she’s just pulling off cotton for bedding maybe.
It seems I can’t send a picture every time I get the message “file too large” and I can’t really make it smaller. The problem may be that I’m on mobile but I don’t have a pc right now.

You need to upload the image to a picture sharing site like imagur or photobucket then post the link here.
