New (ish) Colony, won't eat

I got a new colony about five weeks ago now (Yellow Crazy Ants) from https://petantsmanila.com and I've been having problems.

At first I fed them leftovers, which I sometimes thought I saw bite marks on. Then I got some mealworms and started feeding them ever few days (once every few days) but whenever I take the mealworm out there is no evidence of eating (I feed pre-killed mealworms). a week in (of feeding leftovers) and all the brood were gone. I was told (https://forum.AntsCanada.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13043) that it was because I wasn't giving them enough protein, but they haven't been eating the mealworms.

What's going wrong!?

How small is the colony? Ants won't need food every few days if they are a small colony. Or they might be full because you feed them so often
