I was wondering .. if I was to try to do some brood boosting on pogonomyrmex would you only use eggs, or can you all so add larva and pupa ?? was wondering if, adding from a different nest, like larva or pupa would they not know that they were in a different nest, and after hatching, attack the queen? I have 3 queens. was thinking of boosting just one of them, by digging up a wild nest and taking like maybe 5 eggs, 5 larva, 5 pupa, and adding then in the test tube , with one queen. could there be any bad effects from this? I really love these ants, have one nest in my yard, been there for bout 4 years, I've watched them, fed them, and put a small wire fence around them, to keep people and animals away from them, now I've got 3 queens, but from what I've read, they are very slow to get started, and i'm hyped up, lol, ready to get started, so wanted to try to do some brood boosting on one to speed things up. Any good tips info or ideas, will help.

I thank you .

I've always had great results with pupea from wild colonys. Eggs and larva never seen to make it for me. Plus if it's just the queen she has to feed all the larva and that can be bad. But small numbers are ok. I say go for it.
