I have a small formica colony and I'm not sure if the queen is dead of hibernating.

She appears dead. Ants don’t lay down. Especially on their backs. Can’t you just lift the lid and find out for sure?
Keeping:
Tetramorium immigrans * Lasius Neoniger * Lasius Claviger * Messor Aciculatus * Myrmica Rubra * Camponotus Novaeboracensis * Camponotus Turkastanus * Pheidole Pallidula
