Hello! I have three queens with brood (eggs and small larvae) the brood size has not changed and I am nearing hibernation here in Alberta... Will the brood survive the winter? Do you think the brood is dead? First egg clutch was in early June none have pupated yet. All three queens are still active and appear healthy. I was really hoping for even one queen to produce some workers this year
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: Camponotus Novaeboracensis hibernation
I think the best I can do for you is to provide you with a link to a care sheet.

They don't mention the time needed from egg to worker but that they are similar to Campo. herculeanus. Here they mention that it can take between 8-10 weeks.

If your eggs exceed this then it's either too cold for them to develop or the eggs are dead.

Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
