I found this on a dead nanitic.
One of my 13 nanitics just died. I found this on it.

What is it? Web? A piece of glass? It’s hard to tell

Looks like it got tangled in cotton.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

People have said it’s fungus.

Not an expert of course but it is either cotton or a very dry ant.
Also what is that in its centre and around its legs, looks like sand or a very small larvae bit that cannot be it? Is the test tube dirty? What condition are the rest in?
Sorry but it's my only way to narrow down possibilities, however from what I have noticed from the forums nanitics are fragile in comparison to the later gen of sisters so it could be hard luck I am afraid

Research is important before during and even after you have established a colony. There is always time to learn and to listen to others experiences. Live by this and your ants will thrive. Fail to do so and your experience may be brief.
