Does the queenless camponotus pennsylvanicus colony adopt a new queen?

My camponotus pennsylvanicus queen died a month ago and I have a new queen with the exactly same species. The queen has some eggs and pupae. Does the colony will accept the queen? What is the best strategy in this situation?

The queenless colony has about 50 workers.

I've only ever known it to work with young colonies.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

Since the workers are going to die out anyway you can give your new queen the remaining brood.

So far as I understand the behavior of black carpenter ants, they are strictly a one-queen species. They're not at all like honeybees, which can readily accept a new queen bee if needed.
If the queen dies, that ant colony is doomed (so far as I've read).
My condolences for your loss, but you can keep the workers you have while they live out their lifespan. Maybe study how a colony behaves differently without its queen & educate us :)
Also, best of luck with your new queen. I hope she raises a healthy colony of her own.
