Larva gone??

Larva gone??
I am keeping three componotus p. queens in their founding stages and recently, I checked in on the. The queen that had previously had the most larva (13!) is now down to only 4 larva. I cannot find the other larva in the test tube. What is the cause of this? Did she eat them? The other two queens have not lost any of their brood from their original size (8 and 3).

Yes, she probably ate them.

Maybe she needed more food to raise the larvae so she reduced there numbers as well as gaining some nutrients

Most likely it was just stress. Unless you were really good about not checking on them (like only once every couple weeks, and had them in a place with no light and no vibrations)

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Yeah I moved back to college recently so I'm sure the movement of that didn't help her out. Might have happened before then but oh well, still have three queens.

Still, it does burn a lot of resources to raise 13 larvae. I think this might be for the better.
