Good day, everyone!
I caught a weaver ant queen yesterday morning (Philippines) and decided to house it inside a transparent box until I can get a test tube. However, when I checked just now, its wings had already fallen and it has laid some eggs! I know it's good news. The bad news is, I'm not sure how to take care of a weaver ant queen. I have a fire ant colony, but I've heard that weaver ant queens are semi-claustral. What should I feed it? Should I place some leaves inside? Please help! Thank you!

i would definitely feed her if she is semi claustral as for leaves i think you would have to have a live tree if you want them to nest in leaves. just try a test tube.

Thanks! I tried feeding her with honey mixed with water and she liked it! I'm not sure I can transfer her to a test tube setup now coz she already has eggs. Or can I? And can I feed her with freshly killed insects? Thanks!
Re: Help With Weaver Ant Queen!
You can totally feed her freshly killed insects. If she seems comfortable, then it is not worth the stress of moving somewhere else. If she is not happy there, then move her to a test tube, but she will take a very very long time, as the eggs don’t do well when frequently handled, even by the queen, so she will be pretty stubborn.

Re: Help With Weaver Ant Queen!
Thanks for your help, guys! Here's my weaver ant colony now. There are about 7 workers already. I moved them from their previous container into this small ficus plant. Will move them to a larger plant as soon as the colony gets bigger.
