To give an update on my colony, the queen has died a few days ago.

Not sure what to do with the setup but if someone is interested, you can send me a PM.

Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

I am sorry to hear that My Pogonmyrmex queen died a few days ago as well, hopefully you find another queen though.AntsLuxembourg wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 9:06 amTo give an update on my colony, the queen has died a few days ago.

Re: My Messor Barbarus Colony (Discussion and Info)
Nah I've decided to stop keeping ants myself. I just don't have the time and motivation anymore. Of course each time I see a wild worker ant / queen ant I'm curious and observe them and it excites me to see them but I just cannot spend as much time on my ants as I wished I could. A dog would remind me that it's time for food or walks but ants can't. They are usually sitting in their setup, doing their ant stuff. :/SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:12 pm

I won't stop on the forum of course. I'm an admin after all but I'd rather not keep animals that I cannot take enough care off. It's a responsibility after all. Maybe in the future but right now I got enough things to handle. ^^'

I'm very confused now as to who really died. So basically I've spotted some random Queen ants doing worker duties as of lately and it might be that the dead queen might have been one of those. The only way of knowing this is, if the colony gets new larvae & pupae next year.
Here a video showing one queen.

I saw one 5 legged queen and one with 6 legs on saturday so I've really got some mixed feelings on this whole situation. :/
It's plain odd. I know those queens are infertile and Messor barbarus is not polyginous so the queens that never escaped are still inside the setup without wings.
