Will my ants recover?

I currently own 2 ant colonies. One of the (a pavement ant colony) seems to be under fed before the hibernation. Now they seem to be eating their own brood for food. This is strange because they started refusing food while I was trying to fatten them up for winter. It’s really cold now so do you think they will make it?
Any advice will be appreciated.

What food have you tried so far? Mealworm? Honey? Suger Water? Cockroaches? Other Insects?
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Store bought Crickets and a few grasshoppers I caught outside. Along with some honey of course.

Might be that they don't like grasshoppers and crickets much. I would try mealworms or protein jelly. You can put the meal worms in the fridge. They can survive for a very long time without food. At least mine do. Give it a try and put them into hibernation a few days after.
