New antkeeper Lasius Niger and springtails/isopods

Post: # 77478Post Baldin

Hi there,

So I had a question about dirt before, but now I am on the question of benificial critters.

Question is: Should I get springtails and isopods or just one or the other?
I have done some reading and mostly find the advice to buy them from the store to be sure they dont bring threats into the colony,

Thanks in advance!

You should only put the springtails in, the ants would eventually eat the isopods. You should only put them in when the colony gets big enough. And hear is a video on how to catch springtails: https://youtu.be/Zg0wKosxG34.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

Thanks for the quick reply!
I shouldnt fear that wild springtails bring in harmful stuff to the colony?
