Do Camponotus Pensylvanicus drone lay when unfertilized?
Question in title. For context I found a Pennsylvanicus queen and I took my last look at her for a while to see if she laid eggs. She had, but I wanted to know if this species drone lays if unfertilized.

They can, but chances are slim. When she hasn't mated she can only produce new alates. Those take a lot more food to grow and your fully claustral queen is unlikely to go out scavenging on her own, leaving the brood unguarded.
So I bet your queen has mated. It takes a while for her brood to develop
