Hello,
It is very hard for me to find rubbing alcohol in my country and I was wondering if it is possible to replace it with vodka?
Vodka + baby powder?

I wouldn't try it, since it would probably result in a relatively thick baby powder barrier. I would actually suggest using pure baby powder applied with a dry cottonball, so the barrier is thinner and thus more slippery. But to answer your question, yes, and vodka would probably work a bit better than rubbing alcohol, you just have to get the proportions correct.
First year and already enjoying it!

I tried olive oil and it worked.
I have my both eyes on the terrarium in case they find their way out.
In case it doesn't, I will try vodka.

rubbing alcohol +baby powder is less effective than plain dry baby powder applied with a dry cotton ball

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

You want to use vodka..... Dude??? If not possibly resulting is a wild party of drunk ants. The smell!!!! If you ever check on your ants with a very bad hangover. I advise you keep a bucket handy ;) :lol:
Research is important before during and even after you have established a colony. There is always time to learn and to listen to others experiences. Live by this and your ants will thrive. Fail to do so and your experience may be brief.
