Last year I didn't hibernate my ants (I didn't know any better). They were also a wild caught colony. (I still didn't know any better) Then I saw AntsCanada's video "Top Ten Biggest Ant Keeping Mistakes" and had a change of heart. So I put the colony outside in the sub zero temperatures and they died.
"God made every kind of wild beasts and every kind of livestock and every kind of creeping things;" (including ants) "and God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:25

I’ll probably just hibernate my colonies in my basement. It’s uninsulated fieldstone and cool during the winter. As to wine coolers, rather than Best Buy consider Amazon Warehouse or open box specials
