Hi, If you reading this, can you write some tips about Messor Barbarus? Can I put them into sand? Can they drink from sand? Do they like sand? Thanks.

i know some ants drink from dirt soaked in sugar water so i guess and i think that they like sand just don't use it for their nest tunnles

They do build in sand, yet it's not a very stable digging material. when it's not watered regularly, it might just collapse over time. Plus it can grow bacteria that might harm your ants.

I recommend a clay soil since it's much more stable when dry.
