Hello, I was wondering what you guys have been putting in the hydration system to soak up the water, I tried putting paper towels and cloth but unfortunately that got moldy very fast.

You put the ants in a test tube which contains water and 2 cotton balls. Here are the directions.

Step 1: fill your test tube halfway with water.
Step 2: push a cotton ball into the test tube fast so there is no water bubbles and the cotton is moist but not wet.
Step 3: put your ants inside.
Step 4: get another cotton ball and plug up the test tube. Don’t push the cotton ball to far. Change the test tube every month.

Good luck, Bugging3out

I think he is asking about the hydration chamber on the AntsCanada horizontal nest, for that just fill it up with cotton or some kind of soil like coco fiber.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

Oh yes coco fiber is a good idea, I'll try that! Thanks for the reply.
