Test tube setup
Hey all
I have just caught some queens an when putting them into their new homes (test tubes) i wondered how hard the cotton plug in the water end should be. I have packed a ball loosely in my hand that was a bit bigger then the tube and pushed it down to the water. the water do not leak in to the ant chamber right away, but i'm worried it might over time.
Best regards Rolf

Re: Test tube setup
U should not be worried because cotton become heavy and expand soaking water.......water will not leak............if water leaks immediately call a water brigade

Re: Test tube setup
Thanks, i peaked in to the closet this morning and there were no sign of leaking, and no sign of escapes i did not move the tubes so i could only see the ends of the tubes stinking out of the covers. so it seams i will avert making a water rescue
Re: Test tube setup

Re: Test tube setup
you are truly a mad scientist , i like that you manage with what is available. if you put to together with some rubber hose you could refill the water in you set up as it evaporate .

Re: Test tube setup
Another thing is that water could evaporate through glass but it could not from hard plastic.....like syringe plastic
