Maybe a queen Maybe not a queen (please assist)

So I went queen hunting today just to try my luck and I found a couple large and ponderous ants that seemed... queenly.
I caught them both but one of them has to live in a jamjar since I only have one test tube. My question is though, is this ant a queen and if so which queen?
I've gone through care sheets and did some searching and they look most like formica, but it seems like the formica should have already flown what with it being august.

In either case, here's the lovely lady:

....I was afeared of that....
It was larger than every other ant around though, and it moved so slowly. I guess just need more practice!

Better try again after it rains the next time then.

Probably a super major or a simple major. They are usually big as compared to their sisters. Mainly they are there for defense. Don't know what specie is that tough but a nice beautiful ant.

hopefully you'll get a queen soon after the rains. Good luck.

Pretty. Don't forget to look for the dome shaped muscles on her back and scars from the wings she sheds after mating!
