I have an Omninest large in which I am attempting to rear a queen ant from, I just got my first batch of Niantics (Tetramorium caspitum in Utah) I have them in the first chamber next to where you can attach a tube or block it off. I have the rest of the nest blocked off and dropped a drop of honey in that chamber as celebration, all of them are eating that now. But i've just opened up a second room and attached a small tube connected with a test tube portal as mini outworld. They are fresh niantics and there are about 6-10 of them plus queen... My concern is am giving them too much space right now?

Yeah you just need one room open. Just connect their room to the portal for foraging.

thanks i just check and the queen is in the 2nd chamber so i'll wait till its empty and seal it back off

about how many workers should there be before i open another chamber, and what mile markers should there be before opening up more chambers?

Probably when their at 20. I'd say every 10 workers open up a new chamber. Or you could wait until one chamber gets full and do it that way.

thanks again will do it every 10 or so. when should i open up the outworld that comes with the omninest?

I'd say when they get 50 workers. You an use the portal for now.
