Hi guys, I have never kept ants before-a while ago I caught my first ant queen and put it in a test tube with cotton (as I read on this website). Today I found another ant in there. What is the next step? Where can I keep them to raise a colony, and what do I feed them?

For purposes of Identification I am from California, they might be Argentine ants.

Thanks.

Hi, great that you picked up antkeeping !
Now you have your first worker you can give them a tiny drop of honey. When more workers enclose (around 5) you can connect their tube to a small outworld and give them small insects, like fruit flies.
Success !

I think these are Nylanderia vividula. If you have an ID in California, just ask me.
Is that a male ant with her?
