Ok to leave lasius colony in small ant tower on display?
I was wondering if they would be stressed by too much light if they were on display all the time, even with red film around the tower.

I think that would be fine, unless they are in direct sunlight, because the red film only dims the light.asdglkjsadio wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 3:51 pmI was wondering if they would be stressed by too much light if they were on display all the time, even with red film around the tower.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I’m keeping them out of direct sunlight because I’m pretty sure they would get roasted due to the greenhouse effect.
This is the colony I have farthest along and I just really want to make sure that I don’t stress them out too much, although my son has his heart set on displaying them.

Ok I can’t edit the title but I got tetramorium immigrans and lasius confused in my mind.
I’m pretty sure they’re tetramorium immigrans but there’s a chance they could also be cromategaster.

With what you told me, you should be able to display them, but still maybe still keep them in a dimmer room. If you want to send me a picture of one of the workers, I could id them for you.asdglkjsadio wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 3:21 pmOk I can’t edit the title but I got tetramorium immigrans and lasius confused in my mind.
