hibernation Question

hibernation Question

I had asked a question about if I should put my colony with 9 workers in a mini fridge at 40 f they said yes but when should I put them in they seem to be moving slower then regular. i live in Brookfield Wisconsin

I put mine in at about Dec. 15th last year, but this is pretty late, I would do it between Nov. 10 - Dec. 10.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I base it off if they are ready or not. My c. Socius we’re not growing with eggs since last month, so they are hibernating now.(They like to have eggs in diapause) . When your colony has almost no brood or if it is getting late in the year, put your ants in diapause.
