I had catch like 5-7 queen ants but NONE of them is fertile. They doesn't even want to shed their wings off.
Any tips so I can get/identify fertile queen ants?
edit: I want to start an ant colony
I can't get my hand on a fertile queen

It is a little late in the year to catch queen ants, but if you flip up rocks you might find a founding colony of ants. If you don't want to do that you could try the GAN project:https://www.AntsCanada.com/queen-ants-for-sale/ On this website you can buy queen ants that come from your area.EEEEEEEEEE wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 5:53 amI had catch like 5-7 queen ants but NONE of them is fertile. You could also wait until next year, you will almost certainly find a fertile queen ant.
I hope you find this helpful!
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

You may be catching them too close to an ant colony, so they haven't had flights, or you caught males(Or a parasitic species). Next time you find a queen maybe post a topic in the ant identification forum?EEEEEEEEEE wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 3:36 amYea but I live in Southeast Asia which mean there are nuptial flight through out the entire year.
