Workers disappearing

Workers disappearing

I have been keeping my Lasius niger colony for 2 months now, they started with 2 workers and now have 11. I keep seeing newly eclosed workers, but the next day when i check there is still only 11? Are ants dying and if so, why and where are they going?

The nanetics (first set of workers) don't live very long, so this could be why the colony dose not seem to be growing. The reason you don't see the bodies could be that workers eating them for extra protein. Hope this helps. ;)
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
