Hello, I was wondering what ant colony I should do for my first. I want a medium-sized ant colony for my enclosure. Cheap. No ants that sting definitely! Any suggestions?

Carpenter ants are easy to keep, do not sting, are slow growing and are my favorite genus of ants. If you want a cheap colony you can catch a queen yourself. This video will help you a bit extra: https://youtu.be/o1421IyFKuU.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

Ants from the Lasius, Formica, Camponotus, Crematogaster are all generally easy to keep and can be found quite easily. Any ant that is easy to find is generally a good beginner ant because there is so much knowledge about them. Lasius and Formica generally will not sting. You may want to do some research and decide what is best for you as some grow faster or slower than others.

Also any ants in the sub family Formicinae do not possess a sting.
