Hi all,

I'm in the process of assembling a setup for a lasius niger colony. I have several nests and outworlds that would be suitable but have always wanted to try an all in one.

What are your opinions on this??

Is it just personal preference or does species play a role??

Which do you find easier to maintain??

Look forward to your opinions.

It depends on what you can afford and how much room you have. I see advantages to both. My personal preference is separate, for one simple reason - cleaning. It's relatively simple to disconnect an outworld, switch in a new one, dump any straggler ants into the new outworld and give the old one a good scrubbing, especially when you get crusted ant poo. How that's to be done in an all-in-one, I don't know. If you have ants that like to travel long distances to forage, you can also spread your set-up about or through different rooms like Mikey does.
