Sand type and where to purchase it Lasius Niger ant colony

Hello all,
My 9 year old son and are putting together an ant habitat with 2 deluxe towers for Lasius Niger ants. What type of sand should I use and where do you recommend that I find it? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Just use some fine dirt you find somewhere were you know is not sprayed with chemicals. Be sure to sterilize it too.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
