I want to start Ant keeping in the Netherlands

I want to start Ant keeping in the Netherlands

Hello im Richard Jansma :)

I am interested in the wonderful world of Ant keeping and i want to make a Ant keeping setup (myself)

But for that i need Some information. So here is my question.... i want to know the things i need to think about when i make my setup.


Also what species lives in the netherlands? And what time is the best time to look for queen ants???

I myself am not very good at crafting ant nests, yet I would love to help with some species. Here are some very common ones found all over Europe that are for beginners-

Lasius niger and flavus
Myrmica rubra
Camponotus ligniperda
Formica fusca
Tetramorium caespitum

Thanks AntsDakota for your information :) the Ant setup i want to make myself (with nest and habitat) and Maybe more . Is something i want to plan correctly, i want to make my ants a Comfy and Good home :) the thing only is im new to
Antkeeping and i want to know the things i need to keep in mind. So if you have ideas for that then iT Will be an amazing step for me :)
