Camponotus

Hi my name is Greg
I have a Queen Camponotus that I caught 10 months ago. She’s going great laying eggs and hatching, but the numbers don’t seem to be growing much, why would this be?
Am I able to introduce ants from another colony?
What are the best foods to feed the workers?
Cheers

Camponotus are very slow growers in the beginning. Their "growth spurt" happens at about year 2 or 3. And introducing alien ants could potentially cause an ant war.

Ants' favorite food is honey. Feed them a drop of honey and a cricket leg once a week for now.

Just a note- keep increasing food the larger the colony gets. You could probably keep them on their currant diet until perhaps about 20 workers or so. Then feed them twice a week until say 50 workers. This should last a year or more, so you can ask me again if you haven't found out by that time.

Hi
I need to provide warmth for the colony.
I have a Camponotus Hybrid Nest.
Should I use heat cable or heat mat?
