Lasius Niger - Multiple Queen Advice
Hey guys, so glad to be here and this is my very first post. Just like most of you guys I started watching AntsCanada and now I'm hooked! I've always had a huge interest in ants from a young age but his videos have pushed me that little bit further to finally start my own colony.
I currently have two lasius niger queens in seperate test tube setups and both have laid their eggs which is so exciting. The reason I caught two queens was because I was told it could be quite hard to get them to settle and it would be good to increase my chances. As luck would have it, it seems I've been successful with both My problem is I honestly don't think I can manage two colonies especially as I'm making my own foricariums and I don't have a massive amount of space. Therefore I wanted advice on merging the two queens? I've read that There s a high chance they will battle until the death which would be so sad to see as I've cared for them both but if there was a possibility of them joining forces that would be even more amazing!
I'd love to know your thoughts.

That's what I thought but was worth checking, thanks.
I will just have to be a little more creative with my second setup in terms of size

Lasius niger are rare in North America. Lasius americanus is the correct term for Lasius niger in North America.cheetawolf wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 11:07 pmnope ive tried it multiple times, they will not merge sorry to say-

But I've never heard of Lasius niger being polygynous either.

An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Well, Batspiderfish said "rare", but they could also be non-existent in North America, too.
