Hello everyone, I have lasius niger ant queen in test tube setup and messor ant queen also in test tube. I need advice from you as I am a beginner. I have 3d printer, so I can print formicariums from plastic. But ants also need an outworld. So I don't know if it's beter to have nest inside an outworld (ants would built it itself from soil) or have separately formicarium and outworld. Also can anyone tell me if ytong or plaster formicarium are better than 3d printed one? 3d printed formicarium is less work for me, because I needn't to make it myself.
Thank everyone for your help and advice. I really appreciate it

Re: Need advice
Plastic is probably better as far as mold goes. Plaster is notorious for mold.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
