are they all the same species? If so, it could just be that the larvae found the humidity of the cotton suitable to spin a cocoon on. usually ants need substrate to spin, but If they don't spin they are fine as well.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Yes, i think they are all the same species. I caught them all on the same spot on the same day. Still not sure if its Formica Fusca or Lasius Niger. I actually was really confused about this. At first i thought all of them indeed where eggs then as a beginner i thought the cocoons where the eggs because they where much bigger (ant i did not know they could spin ) and the other ones thought it was just rubbish.idahoantgirl wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 10:09 amare they all the same species? If i put some better pics out here, is there a possibility u could see if its Formica or Lasius? Cause that was a little confusing in my other topic. some said Lasius and other Formica.
